Our Story

“From the first moment I stood in front of his painting, I felt awe. I felt so known, so understood. It was as though my eyes locked with His and in an instant, He knew my hopes, my dreams, my future accomplishments, my fears, my self doubt, my insecurity, my failures and yet, He believed in my anyways. I saw myself differently, through His eyes, a vision of who I was to become. I felt empowered and courageous, when just moments before I wondered who I was kidding trying to be an artist, and would I ever create anything meaningful? I left the museum that day believing I would one day create a masterpiece just like the one that took my breath away.”

In 2021, together with my husband, David Scott, I started Inspired Arts League, a 501c3 Non-Profit to restore hope in the world through art. After two decades of searching, I have come to learn that technique and beauty are important in art, but transcendence and awe come from emotion based storytelling. Without creating an emotional response for your viewer, your work will only have the ability to inspire in a superficial way - through beauty - and it only ever stays on the surface. The emotional impact on your viewer must be at the heart of what you are creating and storytelling is the vehicle for creating that emotion. When emotion, technique and beauty are aligned, we have the power as artists to heal hearts, and inspire awe in our viewers.

Art is viewed today from a place of logic and reason and art training is focused on technique, theory and sometimes beauty, but it often overlooks the viewer and the story. Art isn’t just about concealing meaning in a collection of symbols, but that’s how we’ve come to view it. We don’t derive meaning from the logical parts of our brain, we derive meaning from the emotion centers in our brain and those pathways are activated through narrative. When the emotional impact on the viewer is intentional through story, we facilitate transcendent moments for our viewers and create profound power in our art.
